Sala Sparbank API Access & Open Banking | open-banking.io

Reaching your Sala Sparbank account data no longer means wrestling with eIDAS certificates or a bank-specific developer sandbox. open-banking.io gives you a single, certificate-free path to Sala Sparbank (BIC SWEDSESS) covering both business and personal accounts across the EU and UK. You approve access once, and your balances and transactions flow into a dashboard that only you can decrypt.

Because open-banking.io is zero-knowledge, the platform never holds a certificate on your behalf and never sees your account contents. Encryption keys are generated on your own device, so what reaches the servers is ciphertext tied to your public key — nothing readable.

How to connect Sala Sparbank

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up for an open-banking.io account.
  2. Set your encryption passphrase. Your private decryption key is created locally at this moment and never leaves your device.
  3. In the dashboard, pick Sala Sparbank and choose the account type you need — business or personal.
  4. You are redirected to Sala Sparbank's own secure login, where you approve the PSD2 access request directly with the bank. Your credentials stay with Sala Sparbank.
  5. Your accounts sync into the dashboard. The consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen.

Access your data

Once the connection is live, reading it programmatically is an optional developer step. From the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The API key alone only ever returns ciphertext; without your private key there is nothing readable to see. Note that the CLI and SDK read and sync existing connections — they cannot create the Sala Sparbank link itself, which always happens in the dashboard.

Do I need an eIDAS certificate for Sala Sparbank?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — you authorise access on Sala Sparbank's own consent screen instead.

Can open-banking.io read my Sala Sparbank transactions?

No. The service is zero-knowledge and holds only your public key. Your data is decrypted on your device with a key only you hold.

Up to 180 days per PSD2 rules, then you re-approve directly with the bank.
