How to connect Hälsinglands Sparbank

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally on your device.
  2. In the dashboard, pick Hälsinglands Sparbank (BIC SWEDSESS) and choose the account type you need — business or personal.
  3. You are redirected to Hälsinglands Sparbank's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
  4. Your accounts sync back into the dashboard. Each consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen.

Because the approval takes place on Hälsinglands Sparbank's own login, your credentials are never handled by open-banking.io.

Access your data

Reading the data programmatically is an optional step after the connection exists. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — it bundles that API key together with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests carry the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key there is nothing readable to see. Note the CLI and SDK only read and sync existing connections; there is no connect command.

Pricing is roughly EUR 3 per month, with no certificate costs and no per-bank setup fees.

Do I need an eIDAS certificate?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — you connect Hälsinglands Sparbank through the dashboard and the bank's own consent screen.
