iBanFirst Portugal API Access & Open Banking Data

Reaching your iBanFirst data no longer means wrestling with PSD2 certificates, sandbox registrations or bespoke bank integrations. open-banking.io gives you one consistent path to iBanFirst (BIC FXBBBEBBXXX) alongside 2,600+ other EU and UK institutions, whether you hold a business or personal account. Every consent you grant lasts up to 180 days, and everything you retrieve is decrypted on your own device with a key that never leaves it.

iBanFirst is a cross-border payments and FX specialist, so its account and transaction feeds are exactly the kind of multi-currency data that benefits from a single, normalised view. That is what open-banking.io delivers — without you ever handing your banking data to a third party in readable form.

How to connect iBanFirst

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally, so only your public key is ever stored on our side.
  2. In the dashboard, choose iBanFirst and select your account type (business or personal).
  3. You are redirected to iBanFirst's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 consent.
  4. Your accounts sync back into the dashboard, ready to view.

That is the whole flow: you authenticate directly with iBanFirst, and open-banking.io never sees your credentials.

Access your data

Once iBanFirst is connected, reading the data programmatically is an optional developer step. From the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key and your private decryption key. Then use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Requests carry the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key alone only returns ciphertext — without your private key, the data stays unreadable, which is what makes the service genuinely zero-knowledge.

At roughly EUR 3/month, you get certificate-free, privacy-first access without maintaining any bank-specific plumbing.
