SpareBank 1 Helgeland API Access & Open Banking
Reach your SpareBank 1 Helgeland accounts through a single, privacy-first workspace. open-banking.io links to 2,600+ EU and UK institutions under PSD2, and SpareBank 1 Helgeland fits right in — covering both business and personal accounts. There are no eIDAS certificates to buy, no bank-specific paperwork, and no servers that can read your finances: your data is decrypted on your own device with a key only you hold.
How to connect SpareBank 1 Helgeland
Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.
- Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally on your device; the service only ever stores your public key.
- In the dashboard, pick SpareBank 1 Helgeland and choose the account type you need — business or personal.
- You are redirected to SpareBank 1 Helgeland's own secure login and consent screen, where you approve access directly with the bank.
- Your approved accounts sync back into your dashboard. PSD2 consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen.
Because SpareBank 1 Helgeland has no published BIC in our reference data, you select it by name in the dashboard rather than by identifier.
Access your data
Once SpareBank 1 Helgeland is connected, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles your API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request authenticates with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync existing connections — there is no connect command, because linking a bank always happens in the dashboard.
Do I need an eIDAS certificate?
No. open-banking.io is certificate-free. You approve access on SpareBank 1 Helgeland's own login screen and never handle certificates yourself.
Can open-banking.io see my SpareBank 1 Helgeland data?
No. The platform is zero-knowledge and holds only your public key. Ciphertext is stored server-side; readable data exists only after local decryption with your private key. An API key alone returns ciphertext.
What does it cost?
Around EUR 3 per month for access across all supported banks, including SpareBank 1 Helgeland.
