Ikano Bank API Access & Open Banking (Norway)
Reaching your Ikano Bank (Norway) account data no longer means wrestling with eIDAS certificates or a regulator sandbox. open-banking.io gives you PSD2 access to Ikano Bank alongside 2,600+ other EU and UK banks, and everything your account returns is decrypted on your own device with a key nobody else holds — not even us.
Ikano Bank in Norway offers personal accounts. There is no published BIC to worry about, and a single consent stays valid for up to 180 days before you re-approve, so your connection keeps syncing without weekly interruptions.
How to connect Ikano Bank
Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:
- Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your cryptographic keys are generated locally, on your own device.
- In the dashboard, search for Ikano Bank and choose the personal account type.
- You are redirected to Ikano Bank's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 — your credentials are only ever entered on the bank's screen.
- Once approved, your Ikano Bank accounts and transactions sync straight into your dashboard, and refresh automatically until the 180-day consent lapses.
Access your data
Want to work with the data in code? That is an optional step you take after connecting. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — it bundles your API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you already made in the dashboard — there is no connect command.
Because open-banking.io is zero-knowledge, our servers store only your public key and ciphertext. An API key on its own returns encrypted blobs; without your private key, the data stays unreadable. All this for around EUR 3/month, no certificates required.
FAQ
Do I need an API key to connect Ikano Bank?
No. Connecting is done in the dashboard by approving access on Ikano Bank's own login. API keys are only for the optional developer read step afterwards.
Can open-banking.io see my Ikano Bank transactions?
No. Data is decrypted only on your device with a key you alone hold. We hold your public key and encrypted data — nothing readable.
How long does my Ikano Bank consent last?
Up to 180 days per approval, after which you re-confirm access on the bank's screen.
