ABN AMRO Open Banking & API Access (Netherlands)

Want a single, private way to reach your ABN AMRO (BIC ABNANL2A) account data? open-banking.io links your Dutch ABN AMRO accounts to a clean dashboard and, when you're ready, a developer-friendly API — without certificates, without a bank sandbox, and without ever handing your data to a third party in readable form.

open-banking.io covers 2,600+ banks across the EU and UK. Both business and personal ABN AMRO accounts are supported, and each PSD2 consent lasts up to 180 days before you re-approve. Everything is decrypted locally with a key that never leaves your device, so the service itself only ever holds ciphertext.

How to connect ABN AMRO

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and open your dashboard.
  2. Set an encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated right there on your own device.
  3. Pick ABN AMRO from the bank list and choose your account type (business or personal).
  4. You're redirected to ABN AMRO's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
  5. Your accounts sync back into the dashboard, ready to view.

That's the whole flow. You never share your ABN AMRO credentials with open-banking.io — authorisation stays on the bank's side.

Access your data

Once ABN AMRO is connected, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key plus your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests carry the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key alone only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key, the data stays unreadable, even to open-banking.io.

All of this runs at roughly EUR 3/month.

FAQ

Do I need a certificate or developer account to reach ABN AMRO?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free. You connect in the dashboard via ABN AMRO's own consent screen — no eIDAS certificate or bank sandbox registration required.

Can open-banking.io read my ABN AMRO transactions?

No. It's zero-knowledge: the servers hold only your public key and encrypted data. Decryption happens on your device with a key only you hold.

How often do I re-authorise?

ABN AMRO consent lasts up to 180 days. After that you simply re-approve access from the dashboard.
