bunq (Latvia) API Access & Open Banking Data

Reaching your bunq balances and transactions in Latvia no longer requires wrestling with eIDAS certificates or a bespoke integration. open-banking.io gives you PSD2 access to bunq (Latvia) and 2,600+ other EU and UK institutions through a single dashboard, while keeping the data itself sealed to everyone but you. Every record that syncs is encrypted on your own device with a key that never leaves it — our servers only ever hold your public key, so we physically cannot read your financials.

bunq (Latvia) supports both personal and business account types, and a single consent stays valid for up to 180 days before bunq asks you to re-authorise. bunq does not publish a fixed BIC for this connection, so none is required on our side.

How to connect bunq

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated locally at this moment, on your device.
  2. In the dashboard, choose bunq (Latvia) and select whether you're linking a personal or business account.
  3. You're redirected to bunq's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 — your credentials are entered only on bunq's screens, never ours.
  4. Once you confirm consent, your accounts and transactions begin syncing straight into your dashboard.

Access your data

After a connection exists, developers can optionally read it programmatically. Open the Developers page, create an API key, and export a credentials.json — this file bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own returns only ciphertext — without your private key there is nothing readable to see. Note that these tools read and refresh existing connections; they never create one.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month, with no certificates to buy or renew.

Does open-banking.io ever see my bunq login?

No. You authenticate on bunq's own consent screen, and we never receive your banking credentials.

Yes. bunq (Latvia) offers both, and you can connect each from the dashboard.

Up to 180 days, after which bunq prompts you to renew the connection.
