HSBC Luxembourg API Access & Open Banking Data

Accessing HSBC (Luxembourg) account data no longer means wrestling with eIDAS certificates, PSD2 sandboxes, or bespoke bank integrations. open-banking.io gives you a single, certificate-free path to your HSBC business accounts across the EU and UK — over 2,600 banks are supported — and it does so without ever being able to read your data. Your encryption keys are generated on your own device, and every figure you see is decrypted locally with a key only you hold.

HSBC in Luxembourg (BIC HBUKGB4BXXX) is available for business account access, with a PSD2 consent that stays valid for up to 180 days before you renew it.

How to connect HSBC

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for an open-banking.io account.
  2. Set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are created locally on your device, so the service only ever holds your public key.
  3. In the dashboard, pick HSBC (Luxembourg) and choose the business account type.
  4. You are redirected to HSBC's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
  5. Your accounts sync back into your dashboard, ready to view.

That's the whole flow — you authorise directly with HSBC, and open-banking.io never sees your credentials.

Access your data

Once HSBC is connected, reading the data programmatically is an optional developer step. From the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles your API key together with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly.

Every request authenticates with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key, there is nothing readable to leak. The CLI and SDK read and sync existing connections; they never create them.
