Permanent TSB API Access & Open Banking Data Export

Reading your own Permanent TSB account and transaction data shouldn't require an eIDAS certificate, a bank partnership, or trusting a third party with your statements. open-banking.io links Permanent TSB (BIC IPBSIE2DXXX) into a single dashboard where the data is decrypted on your device with a key only you hold — the service is zero-knowledge and stores only your public key. Whether you run a business or a personal current account, one consent covers up to 180 days of access before you renew.

This is not a scraper and not a screen-reading hack. Access is granted by Permanent TSB itself under PSD2, on the bank's own secure login. open-banking.io simply holds the encrypted result and hands it back to you.

How to connect Permanent TSB

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up at open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your encryption keys are generated locally on your device.
  2. In the dashboard, pick Permanent TSB and choose your account type (business or personal).
  3. You are redirected to Permanent TSB's own secure login and consent screen, where you approve access directly with the bank.
  4. Your accounts and transactions sync back into your dashboard, arriving encrypted and readable only with your key.

Renew the consent when the 180-day window lapses to keep the sync live.

Access your data

Once Permanent TSB is connected, reading the data programmatically is an optional developer step. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. Note that the CLI and SDK only read and sync connections that already exist — there is no connect command, and an API key alone returns nothing but ciphertext without your private key.
