CIB Bank is one of Hungary's established retail and corporate banks, and open-banking.io treats it like the other 2,600+ institutions on the network: you authorise once, and your account and transaction history flows into a dashboard you control. No BIC lookup is needed here — CIB Bank has no published BIC in our directory, and you won't need one to connect.

How to connect CIB Bank

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your cryptographic keys are generated locally on your own device at this moment.
  2. In the dashboard, choose CIB Bank from the bank list and select whether you're linking a business or personal account.
  3. You're redirected to CIB Bank's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2. Your credentials are entered only on the bank's page, never with us.
  4. Once you confirm, your CIB Bank accounts sync back into your dashboard. The consent you grant lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on CIB Bank's screen.

Access your data

Once CIB Bank is linked, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. Open the Developers page, create an API key, and export a credentials.json — this bundles your API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. Without that private key, an API key alone returns only ciphertext — which is exactly what makes the service zero-knowledge.

Do I need an eIDAS certificate for CIB Bank?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — the PSD2 licensing and secure transport are handled for you.

Can open-banking.io read my CIB Bank transactions?

No. Data is decrypted only on your device with a key you hold. Our servers store just your public key.
