Ikano Bank Finland API Access & Open Banking Data

Reaching your Ikano Bank (Finland) account data used to mean eIDAS certificates, sandbox registrations and PSD2 paperwork. open-banking.io removes all of that. It is a certificate-free, zero-knowledge service covering 2,600+ EU and UK banks, so you link Ikano Bank once and work with your personal account information straight away — no developer onboarding with the bank required.

Everything is encrypted end to end. When you join, an encryption key pair is generated on your own device from a passphrase only you know. open-banking.io stores only your public key, which means its servers can never read or decrypt what flows through them.

How to connect Ikano Bank

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code snippet or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase; your keys are created locally on your device.
  2. In the dashboard, search for Ikano Bank (Finland) and choose the personal account type it supports.
  3. You are redirected to Ikano Bank's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 consent — your credentials are only ever seen by the bank.
  4. Your Ikano Bank accounts then sync back into your dashboard, ready to view.

Each approval stays valid for up to 180 days, after which you simply re-confirm on Ikano Bank's consent screen. Ikano Bank's Finland branch publishes no public BIC, so none is needed here.

Access your data

Once a connection exists, developers can optionally read it programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests carry the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The API key alone only ever returns ciphertext; without your private key it stays unreadable — which is what keeps the model genuinely zero-knowledge.

All of this is included for about EUR 3/month.
