Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally using your private key. An API key on its own only returns ciphertext — without your key, the data stays unreadable, even to us. The CLI and SDK read and sync existing connections; they never create new ones.

Do I need an eIDAS certificate?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — you approve access on VR-Bank Altenburger Land's login page and nothing else is required.
