Volksbank Rheinböllen API Access & Open Banking

Pull your Volksbank Rheinböllen balances and transactions into one place with open-banking.io, a certificate-free bridge to 2,600+ EU and UK banks. Both business and personal accounts are supported, and because open-banking.io is zero-knowledge, your financial data is decrypted only on your own device with a key that never leaves it. Volksbank Rheinböllen (BIC GENODED1RBO) is reachable under PSD2, with a consent that stays valid for up to 180 days before you renew it.

There is no certificate to buy, no sandbox to register, and no eIDAS paperwork. You set up an account, connect your bank, and optionally layer developer tooling on top when you want programmatic access.

How to connect Volksbank Rheinböllen

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up at open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally on your device; open-banking.io only ever holds your public key.
  2. In the dashboard, search for Volksbank Rheinböllen and choose the account type you hold — business or personal.
  3. You are redirected to Volksbank Rheinböllen's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
  4. Once approved, your accounts sync back into the dashboard and refresh for the life of the 180-day consent.

Access your data

Programmatic access is an optional step you take after the account is connected. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this file bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there, use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. Note the CLI and SDK only read and sync connections that already exist — they never create one.

An API key on its own returns nothing but ciphertext; without your private key, the data stays sealed. That is the point of a zero-knowledge design.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month.

Does open-banking.io need an eIDAS certificate?

No. The service is certificate-free — you connect Volksbank Rheinböllen straight through the dashboard without any QWAC or QSeal setup.

Can open-banking.io read my Volksbank Rheinböllen data?

No. Data is decrypted only on your device with your private key. The servers hold your public key and encrypted blobs, nothing readable.

Volksbank Rheinböllen allows a maximum consent window of 180 days, after which you re-approve access on the bank's login screen.
