Volksbank Niederrhein API Access & Open Banking
Reaching your Volksbank Niederrhein accounts programmatically usually means chasing PSD2 certificates and per-bank paperwork. open-banking.io removes that entirely. It is a zero-knowledge, certificate-free bridge to 2,600+ EU and UK banks, so a single account lets you pull balances and transactions from Volksbank Niederrhein (BIC GENODED1NRH) alongside every other institution you hold — business or personal.
The key difference: your data is decrypted locally, using an encryption key that only you hold. open-banking.io's servers keep just your public key, so they can store ciphertext but never read your statements.
How to connect Volksbank Niederrhein
Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.
- Sign up for open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated right there on your own device.
- In the dashboard, pick Volksbank Niederrhein from the bank list and choose the account type you need — business or personal.
- You are redirected to Volksbank Niederrhein's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2. Your consent can run for up to 180 days before you renew it.
- Once approved, your accounts sync straight into your dashboard, ready to view.
Because you authorise directly on the bank's screen, your credentials are never seen by open-banking.io.
Access your data
Want the data in code? That is an optional step you take after connecting. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — it bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests carry the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key alone only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key, it stays unreadable. Note the CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you already made in the dashboard.
All of this runs for around EUR 3/month, flat.
Is a PSD2 certificate required?
No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — you approve access on Volksbank Niederrhein's consent screen and nothing else is needed.
Can open-banking.io read my Volksbank Niederrhein data?
No. It is zero-knowledge and holds only your public key. Decryption happens on your device with a key only you have.
Does it cover both business and personal accounts?
Yes. Volksbank Niederrhein supports both business and personal account types, and you select which to connect in the dashboard.
