Access your data

Reading the data programmatically is an optional developer step you take after connecting. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json bundle — it holds the API key together with your private decryption key. From there:

  • CLI: openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync
  • SDK / REST API: send the X-Api-Key header on each request

Every response arrives encrypted and is decrypted locally with your private key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections that already exist — they can never establish a new bank link. An API key on its own returns only ciphertext; without your private key, nobody (including open-banking.io) can read it.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month, with no certificate or eIDAS setup to maintain.

Do I need a developer account to connect Volksbank Eisenberg?
