Volksbank Börde-Bernburg API Access & Open Banking
Reach your Volksbank Börde-Bernburg accounts through a single, privacy-first open-banking layer. open-banking.io lets you link the German cooperative bank (BIC GENODEF1WZL) once and then work with your balances and transactions however you like — dashboard, command line, SDK or REST. Both business and personal accounts are supported, and every PSD2 consent stays valid for up to 180 days before you renew it.
There are no eIDAS certificates to buy and no bank-specific paperwork. Because the platform is zero-knowledge, your data is encrypted with a key that never leaves your device, so open-banking.io only ever holds your public key.
How to connect Volksbank Börde-Bernburg
Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code or key involved in this step.
- Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated locally on your own device.
- In the dashboard, choose Volksbank Börde-Bernburg and select the account type you want to link — business or personal.
- You are redirected to Volksbank Börde-Bernburg's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
- Once approved, your accounts sync straight back into your dashboard and refresh automatically for the life of the 180-day consent.
Access your data
After the connection exists, reading it programmatically is an optional developer step. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly.
Every request authenticates with the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own only ever returns ciphertext, which keeps the model genuinely zero-knowledge. Note the CLI and SDK only read and sync connections that already exist — they never create one.
All of this runs for roughly EUR 3 per month across 2,600+ supported EU and UK banks.
Is a certificate or developer agreement needed?
No. There are no eIDAS certificates and no direct contract with Volksbank Börde-Bernburg — you approve access on the bank's own consent page.
Can open-banking.io read my transactions?
No. Data is decrypted only on your device with a key you hold. The servers store just your public key.
How long does access last?
Each consent runs up to 180 days for both business and personal accounts, after which you re-approve on the bank's login screen.
