Stadtsparkasse München API Access & Open Banking

Reach your Stadtsparkasse München accounts through a single, privacy-first layer. open-banking.io lets you link the Munich savings bank (BIC SSKMDEMMXXX) and pull balances and transactions for both business and personal accounts — without certificates, eIDAS setup, or a bank sandbox application. Your data is encrypted on your own device and decrypted only with a key that never leaves you, so open-banking.io stores nothing it could read.

How to connect Stadtsparkasse München

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for an open-banking.io account.
  2. Set your encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally on your device, and only your public key is ever shared.
  3. In the dashboard, choose Stadtsparkasse München and select the account type you need — business or personal.
  4. You are redirected to Stadtsparkasse München's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 (SCA). open-banking.io never sees your banking credentials.
  5. Your approved accounts sync straight into your dashboard.

Consent lasts up to 180 days, the PSD2 maximum, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen to keep the connection live.

Access your data

Once a connection exists, developers can optionally read it programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key and your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request sends the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you already made in the dashboard — they never establish new ones. An API key on its own returns only ciphertext; without your private key, nobody (including open-banking.io) can turn it into readable data.

All of this runs for around EUR 3/month, covering 2,600+ EU and UK banks under one zero-knowledge account.
