Sparkasse Westmünsterland API Access & Open Banking
Reaching your Sparkasse Westmünsterland account data no longer means wrestling with eIDAS certificates or a bank sandbox. open-banking.io gives you one PSD2 gateway to 2,600+ European banks, and Sparkasse Westmünsterland (BIC WELADE3WXXX) is among them. Both business and personal accounts are supported, and every balance and transaction that flows in is decrypted locally with a key only you hold — the service itself is zero-knowledge and stores only your public key.
How to connect Sparkasse Westmünsterland
Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:
- Sign up for open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated on your own device, so no one else can read what syncs in.
- In the dashboard, pick Sparkasse Westmünsterland from the bank list and choose the account type you want to link — business or personal.
- You are redirected to Sparkasse Westmünsterland's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen. Consent lasts up to 180 days before you renew it.
- Your approved accounts sync back into the dashboard, ready to view.
That's the whole flow: you authorise directly with the bank, and open-banking.io never sees your credentials.
Access your data
Once Sparkasse Westmünsterland is connected, developers can optionally read it programmatically. Open the Developers page, create an API key, and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Requests carry your key in the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally on your machine. Without your private key an API key alone returns only ciphertext, which is what keeps the model genuinely zero-knowledge. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you already made in the dashboard — they never establish a new one.
All of this runs on one plan at roughly EUR 3/month, certificates and enterprise onboarding not required.
Is my Sparkasse Westmünsterland login shared with open-banking.io?

Can I link a business account?
Yes. Both business and personal Sparkasse Westmünsterland accounts can be connected and read.
How long does access last?
Up to 180 days per PSD2 consent, after which you re-approve on the bank's screen.
