Sparkasse Leverkusen API Access & Open Banking

Reaching your Sparkasse Leverkusen account data no longer means wrestling with eIDAS certificates or a bank sandbox. open-banking.io gives you a certificate-free path to your business and personal balances and transactions across the EU and UK — 2,600+ banks, Sparkasse Leverkusen (BIC WELADEDLLEV) among them. Everything is zero-knowledge: your data is decrypted on your own device with a key only you hold, so our servers only ever store your public key and ciphertext.

How to connect Sparkasse Leverkusen

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally on your device at this moment.
  2. In the dashboard, pick Sparkasse Leverkusen and choose the account type you need — both business and personal are supported.
  3. You are redirected to Sparkasse Leverkusen's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2. Consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve.
  4. Your selected accounts sync back into the dashboard, ready to view.

Because approval takes place on the bank's own consent screen, your credentials are never seen by us.

Access your data

Once a connection exists, developers can optionally read it programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own only returns ciphertext — without your private key there is nothing readable. Note the CLI and SDK only read or sync connections that already exist; they cannot create one.

All of this runs at around EUR 3/month.

Does open-banking.io need an eIDAS certificate?

No. The service is certificate-free — you connect through Sparkasse Leverkusen's standard PSD2 consent flow, nothing more.

Can open-banking.io read my Sparkasse Leverkusen transactions?

No. It is zero-knowledge. We hold only your public key and encrypted data; decryption happens on your device with the private key you control.

How long does access last before I must re-approve?

Sparkasse Leverkusen grants consent for up to 180 days. When it expires, reconnect from the dashboard in seconds.
