Sparkasse Elmshorn API Access & Open Banking Data
Reaching your Sparkasse Elmshorn account data no longer means wrestling with eBICS files or paid aggregator contracts. open-banking.io gives you a single, certificate-free path to your Sparkasse Elmshorn balances and transactions across both business and personal accounts (BIC NOLADE21ELH) — and it does so without ever holding a readable copy of your data. Everything is decrypted on your own device with a key that only you possess.
How to connect Sparkasse Elmshorn
Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no code, endpoint, or API key involved in this step.
- Sign up for open-banking.io and open the web dashboard.
- Set an encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated locally in your browser; open-banking.io only ever stores your public key.
- Pick Sparkasse Elmshorn from the bank list and choose your account type — business or personal.
- Approve on Sparkasse Elmshorn's own login. You're redirected to the bank's secure PSD2 consent screen, where you authenticate and authorise access directly with Sparkasse Elmshorn. Consent lasts up to 180 days before you renew it.
- Your accounts sync back into the dashboard, ready to view.
Access your data
Want to pull the data programmatically? That's an optional developer step you take after the connection above exists. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. The API key alone only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key, the payload stays unreadable, which is exactly what zero-knowledge means.
At around EUR 3/month with no certificates to buy or renew, it's a lean alternative to traditional Sparkasse Elmshorn integrations.
Is my Sparkasse Elmshorn login shared with open-banking.io?
No. You enter your credentials only on Sparkasse Elmshorn's own consent screen. open-banking.io never sees them.
Can open-banking.io read my transactions?
No. Servers hold only your public key and encrypted data. Decryption happens on your device with a key only you hold.
How long does access stay active?
Sparkasse Elmshorn grants consent for up to 180 days. After that you simply re-approve on the bank's screen.
