Sparkasse Elbe-Elster API Access & Open Banking

Reaching your Sparkasse Elbe-Elster account data no longer means wrestling with PSD2 certificates or approving a bank sandbox. open-banking.io gives you a single dashboard that links to Sparkasse Elbe-Elster (BIC WELADED1EES) and streams your balances and transaction history back to you — encrypted so that only you can read them. Whether you keep a personal current account or run a business relationship with the Elbe-Elster savings bank, the same connection and the same optional developer tooling apply.

How to connect Sparkasse Elbe-Elster

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, key, or code involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set an encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated on your own device, so the service never holds anything that could decrypt your data.
  2. In the dashboard, search for Sparkasse Elbe-Elster and choose your account type — business or personal.
  3. You are redirected to Sparkasse Elbe-Elster's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's PSD2 consent screen.
  4. Your accounts sync straight into the dashboard. Consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen.

Access your data

Once Sparkasse Elbe-Elster is connected, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json file — it bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key on its own only ever returns ciphertext, which is what keeps the whole system zero-knowledge: open-banking.io stores only your public key.

Privacy and pricing

The design is certificate-free and zero-knowledge — no eIDAS certificate to obtain, no plaintext held on any server. Across 2,600+ EU and UK banks, access costs roughly EUR 3 per month.

Is a PSD2 certificate required?

No. open-banking.io handles the regulated connection, so you never register for or manage a certificate yourself.

Which account types work with Sparkasse Elbe-Elster?

Both business and personal accounts are supported. You pick the type when you select the bank in the dashboard.

Can open-banking.io read my transactions?

No. Data is decrypted only on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. The service holds just your public key and never sees plaintext.
