How to connect Sparkasse Barnim

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in linking an account.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and open the web dashboard.
  2. Set an encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated right on your own device; the passphrase never leaves it.
  3. Pick Sparkasse Barnim in the dashboard and choose your account type — business or personal.
  4. Approve on Sparkasse Barnim's own login. You're redirected to the bank's secure PSD2 consent screen to authorise access — your credentials go only to Sparkasse Barnim, never to us.
  5. Watch your accounts sync back into the dashboard. Consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve.

Access your data

Reading the data programmatically is an optional step after you've connected. From the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — it bundles that API key with your private decryption key. Then use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The API key alone only returns ciphertext — without your private key, nobody (including open-banking.io) can read a thing.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month, with no certificate costs and no per-call bank fees.

Is my Sparkasse Barnim login shared with open-banking.io?

No. You enter your credentials only on Sparkasse Barnim's own consent screen. open-banking.io never sees them.

Can I connect Sparkasse Barnim from the CLI?

No. The CLI and SDK only read and sync accounts you've already connected in the dashboard. There is no connect command — linking always happens through the bank's login.

How long does access last?

Up to 180 days per consent, the PSD2 maximum. When it expires, re-approve on Sparkasse Barnim's screen to keep syncing.
