Pleo API Access & Open Banking Data in Germany

Pulling your Pleo spend and account data into your own tools shouldn't require a banking licence, an eIDAS certificate, or months of PSD2 paperwork. With open-banking.io you connect Pleo (Germany) through a single dashboard and keep full control of the encryption keys — your bank data is decrypted locally on your device, never on our servers.

open-banking.io covers 2,600+ banks across the EU and UK. Pleo is identified by BIC PLEODKK2, supports both business and personal account types, and grants a maximum consent window of 180 days before you re-authorise. Because we're a zero-knowledge service, we only ever hold your public key — the private key that unlocks your data stays with you.

How to connect Pleo

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your key pair is generated right there on your own device.
  2. Open the dashboard, search for Pleo, and choose whether you're linking a business or personal account.
  3. You're redirected to Pleo's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 — the standard consent screen, on Pleo's domain.
  4. Once approved, your accounts and transactions sync straight back into your dashboard, ready to view.

That's the whole flow. No developer redirect, no certificate upload, nothing to configure on Pleo's side beyond the consent you grant.

Access your data

After Pleo is connected, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API directly.

Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you've already made in the dashboard — they never establish new ones. An API key alone returns ciphertext; without your private key, nobody (including us) can read it.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month.

Do I need an eIDAS certificate to access Pleo?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free — you approve access on Pleo's consent screen and we handle the PSD2 plumbing.

Can open-banking.io read my Pleo transactions?

No. We store only your public key. Data is decrypted on your device, so we never see your cleartext.

Up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve access from the dashboard.
