How to connect Hamburger Sparkasse

Connecting happens entirely inside the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step.

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated locally on your device.
  2. In the dashboard, pick Hamburger Sparkasse and choose the account type you want to link — business or personal.
  3. You are redirected to Haspa's own secure login, where you approve access under PSD2 (consent lasts up to 180 days before you renew it).
  4. Your Hamburger Sparkasse accounts sync back into your dashboard, ready to view.

Because approval always takes place on Haspa's own consent screen, your banking credentials never touch open-banking.io.

Access your data

Want the data programmatically? That's an optional step once your Haspa connection already exists. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — it bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Requests authenticate with the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. The CLI and SDK only read and sync connections you have already approved — they never create one.

The whole service is certificate-free and zero-knowledge: open-banking.io stores only your public key, so it can never read or decrypt your Hamburger Sparkasse data. All of this runs for around EUR 3 per month.

Does open-banking.io store my Haspa login?

No. You authenticate directly on Hamburger Sparkasse's own login page, and your encryption keys stay on your device.

Can I access Haspa business accounts?

Yes. Both business and personal Hamburger Sparkasse accounts are supported through the same dashboard flow.

Up to 180 days per PSD2 rules. When it lapses, simply re-approve access on Haspa's consent screen from your dashboard.
