Bank Norwegian Germany API & Open Banking Access

Bank Norwegian brings its Nordic online-banking model to Germany, offering deposit accounts and credit products through a fully digital experience. If you want a single, private place to view and query that data, open-banking.io connects Bank Norwegian (Germany) under PSD2 and keeps everything encrypted with a key that never leaves your device.

Because open-banking.io is certificate-free and zero-knowledge, you don't need an eIDAS certificate, a bank partnership, or any developer paperwork to get started. Our servers only ever hold your public key, so the raw account and transaction data is decrypted locally, by you.

How to connect Bank Norwegian

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated right there on your own device.
  2. In the dashboard, search for Bank Norwegian (Germany) and choose the personal account type.
  3. You're redirected to Bank Norwegian's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's official PSD2 consent screen.
  4. Your accounts sync back into the open-banking.io dashboard, ready to view.

Consent for Bank Norwegian lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve on the bank's screen to keep the connection live. Note that Bank Norwegian (Germany) has no published BIC, so account identification relies on your IBAN.

Access your data

After the connection is live, developers can optionally read the data programmatically. On the Developers page, create an API key and export a credentials.json — this bundles your API key together with your private decryption key. From there you can use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API.

Every request sends the X-Api-Key header, and every response is decrypted locally with your own key. An API key alone only ever returns ciphertext — without your private key, no one, including us, can read it. The CLI and SDK only read and sync existing connections; the connection itself is always made in the dashboard.

All of this is included for around EUR 3/month.

Do I need a certificate or developer license?

No. open-banking.io is certificate-free. You sign up, set a passphrase, and approve access on Bank Norwegian's screen.

Can open-banking.io see my Bank Norwegian data?

No. It's zero-knowledge — we hold only your public key. Decryption happens on your device.

How long does access last?

Up to 180 days per consent, then you re-approve on Bank Norwegian's login to renew.
