Bank 1 Saar Open Banking & API Access | open-banking.io

Reach your Bank 1 Saar accounts through a single, privacy-first workspace. open-banking.io links to Bank 1 Saar (BIC SABADE5SXXX) under PSD2, covering both business and personal accounts, with no eIDAS certificate and no bank-specific paperwork to file. Every balance and transaction that flows in is encrypted, and only you hold the key that turns it back into readable data — the service never can.

How to connect Bank 1 Saar

Connecting happens entirely in the open-banking.io dashboard — there is no API call, code, or key involved in this step:

  1. Sign up for open-banking.io and set your encryption passphrase. Your keys are generated locally on your own device.
  2. In the dashboard, choose Bank 1 Saar and select the account type you want to link (business or personal).
  3. You are redirected to Bank 1 Saar's own secure login, where you approve access on the bank's official consent screen.
  4. Your accounts sync straight back into your dashboard. The Bank 1 Saar consent lasts up to 180 days, after which you simply re-approve.

Access your data

Once Bank 1 Saar is connected, reading the data programmatically is an optional developer step. Open the Developers page, create an API key, and export a credentials.json — this bundles the API key together with your private decryption key. From there use the CLI (openbanking accounts, openbanking transactions, openbanking sync), an SDK, or the REST API. Every request carries the X-Api-Key header, and each response is decrypted locally with your own key. Without that private key an API key alone returns only ciphertext — which is exactly what keeps the system zero-knowledge.

All of this runs for roughly EUR 3/month, across 2,600+ supported EU and UK banks.

No. Linking is done in the dashboard by approving access on Bank 1 Saar's login. API keys are only for reading data afterwards.

Can open-banking.io see my Bank 1 Saar transactions?

No. The platform stores only your public key. Data is decrypted on your device, so the servers hold ciphertext they cannot read.

Up to 180 days per PSD2 rules. When it expires, reconnect from the dashboard in a few clicks.
